Raymond Leslie Rountree 

  Raymond Leslie Rountree Sr., 79, died Sunday, Dec. 9, in his home. 

  Mr. Rountree was a native of Gates County, N.C.  He was a retired burner. 
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of Smithfield 
Union Lodge No. 18, A.F.&A.M.  He had served as past high priest of Mt. Nebo 
No. 20 R.A.C. 

  He was also a member of Portsmouth Commandery No. 5 and Khedive Temple of 
Shrine and a charter member and oldest active member of the Provost Guard. 

  Survivors include his wife, Wilma Bailey Rountree; a daughter, Anne R. Shinn 
of Charlotte, N.C.; three sons, Ray L. Rountree Jr. of Suffolk, Willie 
Rountree II of Carrollton and C. Bailey Rountree of Smithfield; two sisters, 
Billie Sinclair of Franklin and Iris Rountree of Richmond; and five 
grandchildren. 

  A masonic service was held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 11 in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral 
Home, Suffolk, by Smithfield Union Lodge No. 18, A.F.&A.M.  Funeral services 
were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 11 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Suffolk, 
officiated by the Rev. James R. Noland.  Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 
Suffolk. 

  Memorial donations may be made to The Shriner's Crippled Children's 
Hospital, 234 West Freemason Street, Norfolk, Va. 23510.
