WILLIE ALLEN SAUNDERS

   SUFFOLK - A funeral service for Willie A. Saunders, 73, was held Saturday 
at 2 p.m. in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Cooper P. Abrams III. 
Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

    Saunders died Wednesday morning in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.

   A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of the late Otelia Gay 
Saunders.  He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a retired service 
station attendant.  He was also a member of Suffolk Moose Lodge 141.

   Survivors include seven daughters, Frances Edwards, Nancy Harrell and 
Rebecca Hedgepeth of Windsor, Mary Munford, Willie Clark and Brenda Marshall 
of Franklin and Charlotte Malcolm of Suffolk; two sisters, Mary Cook and Betty 
Britt of Ivor; two brothers, Clyde Saunders of Waverly and Edward Saunders of 
Suffolk; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
