Turner James Oliver Turner, 73, of 2941 Deerpath Rd., Suffolk, Va., died Sept. 20, 1997, in Obici Hospital. A native of Southampton County, Va., he was the widower of Nellie Virginia Butler Turner, and son of the late John Turner and Mary [sic*] Turner. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce T. Glassco. He had retired from Suffolk Public Works after 38 years of service. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God, Suffolk. Survivors include two daughters, Vanessa T. Bradshaw and Margie T. Engle of Suffolk; a sister, Edith Ellis of Suffolk; six grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. The graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. William Hawkins in Ellis Family Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Harrell Funeral Home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m., and at the residence, 2941 Deerpath Rd., at other times.
