All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Nora Umphlett SMITHFIELD - Nora Lee Robertson Umphlett, 86, of Rt. 1, Box 271, died Sunday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Gates County, N.C., she was the widow of Shade Umphlett, and daughter of the late Willie Robertson and Penny Smith Robertson. Mrs. Umphlett was a retired packer for Eberwine Canning Co. and was a member of Eure (N.C.) Christian Church. Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Warren of Minerva, Ohio, and Elizabeth Smith and Joyce Baines, both of Suffolk; four sons, George Wesley Umphlett, E. Douglas Umphlet and Wallace R. Umphlett, all of Suffolk and Clarence W. Umphlett of Smithfield; a brother, Wesley Robertson of Gatesville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great- grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. William M. Everhart. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
