He was the husband of the late Mrs. Gertie Pierce Wright and was a native of Nansemond County. He was the son of late Cornelius Washington and Etta Riddick Wright. He was an Army veteran of World War I and the oldest living member of Providence United Methodist Church and the Smith Volunteers. He was a member of Suffolk Post 57, American Legion; Suffolk Barracks 1045, Veterans of World War I; and the Retired Men’s Club of the Virginia Peninsula. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Irving Duck of Suffolk; a son, Percy T. Wright, Jr., of Starke, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Roberts and Mrs. Fred Baker of Norfolk; a brother, C. Wallace Wright of Suffolk; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Providence United Methodist Church by the Rev. Thomas Brown. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, with R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home in charge. His body will be taken from the funeral home to the church Tuesday at 1 p.m. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Irving Duck, 422 Forest Hill Crescent.
