John Allen-Thos Pitman, Southmark Twnship, Surry Co, VA

BOND BETWEEN JOHN ALLEN AND THOS. PITMAN, JR (1710)

KNOW all men by these presents that I, John Allen, of the County of Surry am 
held & firmly bound into Thomas Pitman of the County of Isle of Wight in the 
full and just sum of twelve thousand pounds of good merchantable tobacco in 
sufficient caske, to the true payment whereof to the said Thomas Pitman 
Junior, his heires, executors, & administrators, I do bind myself, my heires, 
executors & administrators firmly by these presents.

IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale this 20th day of 
August 1710.

THE CONDITION of the above obligation is such that if the above bound John 
Allen, his heires, executors and administrators do and shall from time to time 
and at all times forever hereafter will and truly observe, perform, fullfill, 
and keep all & singular the covenants, grants, articles, causes, & agreements 
whatsoever which of his & their parts & behalf, to, are, and ought to be, 
observed, performed, fullfilled & kept mentioned & contained in certain 
Indentures of Release of the date  above written & made or mentioned to be 
made between the said John Allen of the first part and the said Thomas Pitman, 
Jr of the other part & that in & by all things according to the tenor effect & 
true meaning of the same Indenture of Release without fraud or coven that then 
this obligation to be void & of no effect or elce it to stand & abide in full 
power force & virtue.
