WM BROWNE (1712) On the backside of a Deed of Release of Certain Lands sold by Capt. William Browne to Thomas Morrill was thus written viz: At a court held at Southmark for the County of Surry August ye 20th 1712 This day appeared in court Jane Browne ye wife of the within named William Browne & did freely relinquish her ye said Janes rights of dower of in & to the within mentioned land which is ordered to be recorded & is recorded by: John Allen Cl. Cur. On the back side of a Deed of Sale of a parcell of land sold by Capt. William Browne to Robert Grice was thus written viz: At a court held at Southmark for the County of Surry August ye 20th 1712 This day appeared in court Jane Browne ye wife of the within named William Browne and freely relinquish her ye said Janes right of Dower of in & to the within mentioned land which is ordered to be recorded & is recorded by: John Allen Cl. Cur. NOTE: The above two "releases" appeared AFTER an Indenture between John Allen and Samuell Lancaster and BEFORE an Indenture between Thomas Cotton & John Smith. The actual Deeds of Sale for the Browne's may be on the microfilm someplace but since they are unrelated to my ancestry, I (the transcriber) did not look for them.
