BARBADOS - BOND BETWEEN CAPT. HENRY JENKINS & HUGH HALL (1710)

TO ALL TO WHOM these presents shall come: GREETING, KNOW YEE that on ye day of 
ye date hereof personally came & appeared before ye honorable Thomas Becklin, 
Esq.  Chiefe Baron of Her Majestyes Court of Exchecquer & Chiefe Justice of ye 
Pleas of ye Crowne; also Chiefe Judge of Her Majestyes Court of Comon Pleas 
for ye Precinct of St. James &c a? within ye said island & likewise? in 
presence of me, Thomas Baron, Gentleman,  Executing ye Office of Secretary & 
sole Notary Publick of ye said Island.  Benjamin Hall of ye Island aforesaid 
merchant, being a person well known & worthy of good creditt, who did by 
solemn oath which he took upon ye Holy Evangelists of Almighty God then & 
there solemnly declare testifie & depose to be true, that he ye said Deponent 
well knew Captain Henry JenkIns of Virginia during his residence in this 
Island & that he , ye said, Deponent is at present and did see ye said Capt. 
Henry Jenkins by ye name of Capt. Henry Jenkins of Virginia seale & as his act 
& deed deliver to or for ye use of Hugh Hall Esq. otherwise called Hugh Hall 
of ye said Island , merchant, a certain originall Bond or Obligation now 
to ye said Deponent produced fair & uncancelled (a true copy of which Bond or 
Obligation is hereunto annexed) bearing date ye stand bound unto ye said Hugh 
Hall in ye sume or penalty of one hundred & fifty pounds of lawfull & currant 
money of ye said Island.

Conditions for payment of ye sume of seventy five pounds of like mony as 
aforesaid with all underwritten agreement in ye said Bond or Obligation also 
sealed & delivered by ye said Henry Jenkins as his act & deed to or for ye use 
of ye said Hugh Hall therein covenanling? that in case ye said principle money 
mentioned in ye said Condition of ye said Bond or Obligation should not be 
paid by ye said Henry Jenkins unto ye said Hugh Hall at ye time limitted in ye 
said Condition, that then & in such case ye said Henry Jenkins was to pay & 
allow unto ye said Hugh hall interest for ye same at & after ye rate of ten 
percent per annum as by ye said annexed coppy of ye said Bond or Obligation 
will further appear & ye said Deponent further saith that he was present
& did see ye said Hugh Hall seale & as his act & deed deliver to or for ye use 
of ye said Nathaniel

line  but I include this small portion in the event it may be useful to those 
researching the Jenkins or Hall lines.  This document with the heading of 
Barbados is among many other documents all presented in Southmark in the 
County of Surry in Virginia.  Of the 60-70 documents I have transcribed, this 
is the only listed as Barbados.
