SURRY COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - John Allen to William George, 14 Nov 1737 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Deeds: John Allen-William George, Southmark Twnship, Surry Co, VA INDENTURE BETWEEN JOHN ALLEN & WILLIAM GEORGE 14th NOV 1737 THIS INDENTURE made the fourteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty seven between John Allen, gentleman of Surry County of the one part and William George of the same county, planter of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said John Allen for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings to him in hand paid the recipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit and discharge the said William George, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns. HATH bargained & sold and doth by these presents grant, bargain and sell unto the said William George, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns all that part of a tract or parcell of land lately purchased by the said John Allen of Nicholas Valentine by deeds executed in Surry County Court the twentieth day of July one thousand seven hundred and thirty seven containing by estimation two hundred and forty acres of land be the same more or less according to the most anticent (ancient) known and reported bounds thereof scituate lying and being in Lawnes Creek Parish in the County of Surry aforesaid and on the south side of the main road that goes from Birchen Island Bridge down to Grays Creek Warehouses which said tract of land is part of a parcell of land lately purchased by the said Nicholas Valentine of one Thomas Brown by a deed executed in Surry County court the nineteenth day of November one thousand seven hundred and thirty five and also the reversion and reversions, remainder & remainders thereof. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid land with the appurtenances unto the said William George, his executors, administrators and assigns from the day next before the date hereof unto the end and term and for and during the term of one year from thence next considering to the intent that by virtue thereof and of the nature for transfering uses into possession, the said William George may be in actuall possession of the said land and be enabled to take and accept of a grant and release of the premises to him, his heirs and assigns forever. IN WITNESS whereof the said John Allen hath hereunto set his hand and seale this day and year above written.
