SURRY COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - John Allen to Robert Lancaster, Jr, 20 Aug 1712 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Deeds: John Allen-Robert Lancaster, Southmark Twnship, Surry Co, VA INDENTURE - JOHN ALLEN-ROBERT LANCASTER, JR. (20 AUG 1712) THIS INDENTURE made the 20th day of August in the eleventh year of ye reign of our sovereign Lady Ann by the grace of God of Great Brittain, France & Ireland, Queen, defender of ye faith &c. and in ye year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twelve between John Allen of the County of Surry, gentleman, of the one part and Robert Lancaster Junior of the same county, planter, of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said John Allen for and in consideration of the sume of five shillings to him in hand paid by the said Robert Lancaster Junior at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt thereof and himself therewith fully satisfied, contented and paid, he doth hereby acknowledge, and for divers other good cause him thereunto moving hath granted, bargained, sold, demised, leased and to farm-letter & by these presents doth grant, bargain, elce (else) demise and to farm-let unto the said Robert Lancaster Jr, his executors, administrators and assigns a certain tract or parcell of land scituate on the south side of the main Blackwater Swamp in the County aforesaid containing three hundred acres of land be the same, more or less, which said tract or parcell of land is part of a Pattent formerly granted to James Allen dated the 25th day of Aprill 1701 for fourteen hundred acres and by the said James given & bequeathed in his Last Will and Testament to the above named John Allen and his heires forever (as relacon to the said Will being had may more at large appear). Bounded west beginning at the mouth of a branch of ye southside of the main Blackwater swamp aforesaid (which said branch divides this land from ye land of Samuell Lancaster) thence up the run of ye said branch to a marked white oak stump standing in the head line of ye said Pattent on ye north side of the said branch, thence north one hundred & seventy pole to a white oak, then north northeast fifty pole to a small sweet gumm by a meadow side on the main Blackwater swamp aforesaid and down the various courses of the run of the said swamp to the beginning together with all and singular the orchards, houses, gardens, woods, ways, and waters and all other royaltys and priviledges, profitts, commoditys & advantages whatsoever to the said tract or parcell of land belonging or in any wise appertaining or therewith or with any part thereof, used, enjoyed, or accepted, reputed or taken as part, parcell or member thereof, and the reversion and reversions, remainder & remainders thereof & of every part and parcell thereof. TO HAVE & TO HOLD the said tract or parcell of and with all and singular the premises hereby demised, granted, bargained & sold, unto the said Robert, his executors, administrators & assigns from the day next before the day of the date of these presents for & during the term of one year fully to be compleat & ended yielding and paying therefore to the said John, his executors, administrators & assigns on the feast day of Saint Michael, the Archangel, next insuing ye date hereof, one ear of Indian corn if the same shall be lawfully demanded, to the intent that by virtue of these presents & of the statute for transferring uses into possession the said Robert may be in the actuall posession of ye premises & be enabled to take & accept of a grant & Release of ye reversion & inheritance thereof to him, his heirs & assigns forever.
