SURRY COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Arthur Allen to William Butler, 2 Mar 1696 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Deeds: Arthur Allen-William Butler, Southmark Parish, Surry Co, VA ARTHUR ALLEN-WILLIAM BUTLER LAND SALE (1697) Know all men by these presents that I, Arthur Allen, of Lawnes Creek inye County of Surry for in consideration of a parcell of land containing, by estimation, eighty acres, more or less, scituate in ye County aforesaid recorded to William Butler, son & heir, of William Butler late of ye parish & county aforesaid deceased and which he, ye said William, hath this day conveyed assigned & made over to his & their heirs forever have bargained & sold do hereby for me, my heires, forever bargain, sell, and deliver infeeoff transferr do confirm unto said William, to his heirs, & assigns forever a certain parcell of woodland scituate in ye said parish county aforesaid conteyning, by estimacon, eighty acres be ye same, more or less, bounded viz: Northerly on ye said maine road that leads from Lawnes Creek Mills to Hog Island easterly on Madan Be..ands line southerly on ye said land, formerly belonging to Roger Dobbs now in ye said tenure & occupation of Mr Sam Newton & others, westerly on his, ye said Butlers, own land. TO HAVE, TO HOLD ye said eighty acres of land more or less to him, ye said William Butler, his heirs, assignes forever in a full, ample maner to all intents, puposes as I myself might or could have enjoyed ye same and I do hereby oblige myself, my Executors, Administrators in penall sum of one hundred pounds sterling to be payable to ye said Butler, his heirs,assigns on demand to warrant & defend this my sale of all singular ye premises with their appurtenances to him, the said William Butler, to his heirs and assigns forever against all, all maner of persons whosoever by from or under me in deriveing or pretending any claime, title or interest thereto and when thereto required will give to him or any of them such farther, (further) other lawfull assurance of all, singular of ye premises as by his or those councill learned in the law shall be thought fitt. In testimony of all which I have hereunto putt my hand, & seale ye 2nd of March 1696/1697. Ar.
