SURRY COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - John Allen to Richard Parker, 16 Dec 1728 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Deeds: John Allen-Richard Parker, Southmark Parish, Surry Co, VA INDENTURE BETWEEN JOHN ALLEN AND RICHARD PARKER (1728) THIS INDENTURE made this sixteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty eight (1728) between John Allen of the parish Southmark in the county of Surry aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that said John Allen for and in consideration of the sum of five schillings to him in hand paid the receipt whereof hereto he doth acknowledge and thereof doth acquireth and discharge the said Richard Parker, his Executors, Administrators, and assigns & hath bargained and sold and doth by these presents bargain and sell unto the said Richard Parker, his Executors Administrator, and assigns a certain tract or parcel of lands with the appurtenances thereof scituate, lying and being on the northeast side of Vaughans Swamp in the parish of Lawnes Creek in the county of Surry as aforesaid containing, by estimation, twenty acres of land be the same more or less is bounded as followeth, viz: Beginning at a markt gum by the side of Vaughan's Swamp aforesaid in a line twixt to the said Allen and the said Parker thence north five degrees east thirty-six pole to a oiled oak then north forty pole to a white oak by a small branch side then north eighty degrees east eighty-four pole to a small black oak in the line twixt the said Allen and the said Parker aforesaid and by that line south forty-four degrees west one hundred and twenty-six pole to the beginning and also the reversion and reversions, remainder and the remainders thereof. TO HAVE & TO HOLD the aforesaid land with its appurtenances unto the said Richard Parker, his Executors Administrators, & assigns from the day next before the date hereof unto the end term and for and during the term of the year from thence next to ensuring to the intents that by virtue thereof and of the statutes for transferring uses unto possession of the said Richard Parker may be in the actual possession of the said land and be enabled to take and accept a grant release of the premises to him his heires and assigns forever. Edwards John Fitzgerald At a court held for Surry county December the 18th 1728 This day appeared in court the above named John Allen and did acknowledge the above contents to be his reall act and deed which is ordered to be recorded and is recorded by: John Allen Cl. Cu. Note: A line was squeezed in after second line (above) which ends "in the county of" and before third line which begins with "Surry aforesaid of the other part". The inserted line appears to be: "Surry of the one part and Richard Parker of the parish of Lawnes Creek in the county of" It probably should read : .....between John Allen of the parish Southmark in the county of Surry aforesaid of the one part and Richard Parker of the parish of Lawnes Creek in the county of the other part witnesseth.....
