SURRY COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - William Bridges to William Dancy, 19 Jun 1738 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Deeds: William Bridges-William Dancy, Southmark Parish, Surry Co, VA INDENTURE BETWEEN WILLIAM BRIDGES, WILLIAM DANCY & OTHERS (6-19-1738) THIS INDENTURE made this nineteenth day of Gune in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eight BETWEEN William Bridges of the County of Surry and Susanna, his wife, and Joseph Bridges of Barte Precinct in North Carolina of one part and William Dancy of the said county of Surry of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said William Bridges and Susanna, his wife & Joseph Bridges, for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings currant mony of Virginia to them or one of them in hand paid at and before the ensealing & delivery hereof by the said William Dancy, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, have bargained and sold and do by these presents bargain and sell unto the said William Dancy, his executors and administrators and assigns a certain tract or parcell of land containing five hundred acres in it, more or less, lying and being on the north side of Nottoway River in the said county of Surry and bounded as followeth, to witt: BEGINNING at a white oak corner tree of Philip Lightfoot, Esq. then along the said Lightfoot line to a hickory on other corner tree of the said Bridges land then along the said line to the head line of the said Bridges land then along the head line to the old Road to John Weavers line then along John Weavers line to a corner white oak tree then up the said line to the Tiny Swamp to a white oak corner tree of the aforesaid line then down the line between Henry Meacham and the said Bridges to Meachams and Henry Las corner tree and from thence to an elm on other corner tree? of Bridges & Las line from thence along the said line to a white oak by the old Road from thence to a buter wood tree by Las path and from thence to the begining two hundred and seventy acres of the said tract of land since? purchased of John Jones of this said county by deeds bearing date the nineteenth day of April Anno. Domini one thousand seven hundred and fourteen and one thousand seven hundred and fifteen and the other two hundred and thirty acres was granted to the said William Bridges by Patent bearing date the first day of August one thousand seven hundred and thirty four, the said five hundred acres of land being all the land that the said William and Joseph Bridges holds on the north side of Notoway River. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said land and all and singular the premises hereby bargained and sold with the appurtenances unto the said William Dancy, his executors, administrators and assigns from the day next before the date hereof unto the end and terme and for and during the term of one year from thence and trusting? to the intent that by virtue thereof and of the statute for transfering uses into possession the said William Dancy may be in the actual possession of the said land and premises and be enabled to take and accept of a grant and release of the revsion and inheritance of the same land and premises to him and his heirs to the use of him, his heirs and assigns forever.
