SURRY COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Edward Clanton to John Guillum, 9 Jan 1738 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Deeds: Edward Clanton-John Guillum, Southmark Parish, Surry Co, VA INDENTURE BETWEEN EDWARD CLANTON & JOHN GUILLUM (1738) (partial) THIS INDENTURE made this ninth day of January in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred thirty and eight BETWEEN Edward Clanton of Brunswick County of the one part and John Guillum of the County of Surry of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said Edward Clanton for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings current moneys of Virginia to him in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof by the said John Guillum, his executors, Administrators and assigns two tracts or parcels of lands. The one containing four hundred acres and the other one hundred and fifty acres, both lying and being on the south side of Nottoway River as appears by Letters Patents granted in the year one thousand seven hundred twenty and nine and one thousand seven hundred and thirty? five both in Surry County and their boundarys? as followeth, viz: The four hundred, be the same more or less, BEGINNING at a gum on the south side of a branch a corner of John Guillums line south twenty degrees east ninety eight ______ to a white oak then south? thirty seven degrees east forty four pole to a red ash corner tree of the said Clantons other land then by his own old lines seventy two pole to a gum south one hundred and eighty three pole to a black oak and south eighty five degrees west seventy four pole to a white oak corner of John Guillums line then by Guillums line south twenty six degrees east one thousand and fourteen pole to a red oak then north twenty five degrees east forty nine pole to a red oak then northly? east one hundred and four pole to a black oak then north thirty five degrees east eighty _our pole to a black oak near the Nottoway Road in? line? tree of Robert Merett? land then by Kagees line north sixty degrees west two hundred and thirty _our pole to a black oak then north sixty? degrees west _____ five ______to a _____ is the _____ first then? ______ . . . . . .
