THIS INDENTURE made ye eleventh day of August in ye yeare of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seven (it says seven) between Nathaniel Harrison of ye parish of Southmark in ye County of Surry, gentleman, of ye one part and Water Flood of ye parish and county aforesaid, gentleman, of ye other part. WITNESSETH that whereas ye deviding bounds of their lands is very doubtfull and uncertain, therefore for ye prevention of controversies for ye future they have concluded and agreed on these following bounds Viz: Beginning at a spanish oak on ye riverside below ye mouth of ye upper sunken marsh and beginning thence south west by west sixty-two pole to a cypress by ye marsh side then south twenty two degrees west sixteen pole to a forked summer oak then south fourteen degrees west forty-three pole to a white oak then south forty six degrees west fourteen pole to a gum by ye marsh side then north forty degrees west twenty nine pole to a cypress near ye creek side. The said creek being ye bounds upwards with said bounds shall deemed taken and held to be ye deviding bounds between them and their heires forever (the said Flood, his heires, executors, administrators, assigns to pay quit-rents for two hundred acres of land that he hath gained by this settlement of bounds and hath been adjudged by Mr. John Allen to whose determinations they did both by consents refer it) And ye said Nathaniel Harrison and Water Flood for themselves and every of them and every of their heires executors, administrators & assignes severally and not joyntly do by these presents, covenants, grant and agree to and with each other severally and not joyntly in manner following, that is to say, that ye said Nathaniel Harrison, his heires and assignes from time to time, and at all times hereafter shall and may forever peaceably and quietly have,hold, occupy, possess and enjoy to his and their own proper uses and behoofe all and singular ye lands and appurtenances lying and being on ye upper side or westerly side of ye said bounds abovementioned without any lett interruption or molestation of ye said Water Flood, his Heires, and assigns, or any person claiming any right or title thereto, by, from, or under him/them or any of them and that ye said Water Flood, his heires and assignes from time to time and at all times hereafter shall and may forever peaceably and quietly have, hold, occupy, possess, and enjoy to his and their own proper use and behoofs all and singular ye lands and appurtenances lying and being on ye lower side or easterly side of ye said bounds above mentioned without any lett interruption or molestation of ye said Nathaniel Harrison, his heires and assignes or any person claiming any right or title thereto by from or under him/them or any of them.
