VA Deed Bk. 4, pgs 48-49 FHLC #34119 This Indenture made this nineteenth day of October in the year of Christ one thousand eight hundred and ten, between Josiah Wrenn and Nancy his wife of Isle of Wight county of the one part and Josiah Long and James Long sons of Rebecca Long of the county of Surry of the other part Witnesseth that in consideration of the natural love and good will that the said Josiah Wrenn and Nancy his wife do bear to the said Josiah Long and James Long and in the further consideration of one dollar to us in hand paid at or before the ensealing and delivering these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have and by these presents do give and grant unto the said Josiah Long and James Long their heirs &C all our right, title, claim and interest to all the real estate that James Doning of Surry county died seized and possessed of -- to have and to hold the said premises unto them the said Josiah Long and James Long, jointly and to their heirs and assigns forever and the said Josiah Wrenn and Nancy his wife, for them their heirs &C the said premises above mentioned unto them the said Josiah Long and James Long their heirs and assigns against the claim of them the said Josiah Wrenn and Nancy his wife, and or & with all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming under them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents in witness whereof the said Josiah Wrenn and Nancy his wife, hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day and date first above written Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of ------- Josiah Wrenn (Seal) Rowland Holt Ann Wrenn (Seal) Willis Holliman Joseph Davis Surry County, to wit, The Commonwealth of Virginia to John Blunt, and Samuel Woodley Gentlemen Justices of the county of Isle of Wight greeting Whereas Josiah Wrenn and Nancy his wife, of the said county of Isle of Wight by their deed of gift bearing date the nineteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and ten, conveyed unto Josiah Long and James Long (sons of Rebecca Long of Surry county) the fee simple estate in all their Interests in the real estate of which James Dening deceased late of Surry county died seized and possessed, and whereas the said Nancy Wrenn cannot conveniently travel to our court of our said county of Surry to acknowledge the said deed and to relinquish her right of Inheritance in and to the said estate conveyed by the said deed of gift which is hereunto annexed, therefore we do grant you or any two or more of you full power and authority to receive the acknowledgement and relinquishment which the said Nancy may be willing to make before you of the conveyance aforesaid, and we do command you that you do personally go to the said Nancy and examine her separate and apart from the said Josiah Wrenn, her husband, whether she executed the said deed and relinquished her right of Inheritance in the estate conveyed by the same freely and voluntarily without pursuasions or threats of her said husband, and whether she is willing her relinquishment thereto be recorded in the court of the said county of Surry - and when you have examined her as aforesaid and received her acknowledgment, that then you distinctly and plainly without delay certify us thereof in our same court and or your hands and seals sending the said Indenture and this ???, Witness John Faulcon clerk of our said county court of Surry at the Court house the 23rd day of October 1810 in the 35th year of the Commonwealth. John Faulcon CSC Isle of Wight County to wit, Agreeable to the within Commission to us directed we have examined Nancy Wrenn wife of Josiah Wrenn privily and a part from her said husband and she doth relinquish all her right of inheritance and interest in the Land in the within mentioned Indenture contained, freely and voluntarily without the pursuasions or threats of her said husband, and she is will the same should be recorded in the county court of Surry or in the General court of the state of Virginia - Given under our hands and seals this 15th day of December 1810 Jno Blunt (Seal) Saml Woodley (Seal) At a court held for Surry county January 22nd 1811 --- he within written deed of gift from Josiah Wrenn and Ann his wife, to Josiah and James Long was proved to be the act and deed of the said Josiah Wrenn and Ann his wife, by the oaths of Willis Holloman and Joseph Davis two of the witnesses and ordered to be continued for full proof - The Commission annexed being returned executed was together with the certificate of its execution by the court ordered to be recorded - And at a court held for the said county the 23rd day of July following - The said deed was fully proved by the oath of Rowland Holt a witness thereto and by the court ordered to be recorded Examined & delivered Teste, W.
