VA Deed Bk. 4, pgs 220-221 FHLC #34119 This Indenture made this first day of April A.D. One thousand eight hundred and thirteen Between Richard Wren and Sally his Wife of Sussex County of the one part and John Clark of Surry County of the other part Witnesseth that the sd Richard Wren & Sally his Wife for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty dollars current money of Virga to them in hand paid by the sd John Clark have granted bargained & Sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the sd John Clark his heirs & assigns forever all their Interest, right, title, & claim in the Land & plantation of which Hinchy Hargrave died seized and possessed containing by estimation one Hundred Acres be the same more or less together with all woods underwoods ways Waters water courses profits commodities advantages emoluments, Hereditaments & appertenances whatsoever to the sd Land & premises or in any wise appertaining the reversion & reversions remainder & remainders rents issues & profits of the same & every part thereof and all the Estate title right interest property claim and demand whatsoever of them the sd Richard Wren & Sally his Wife or their Heirs of in and to the same & any part thereof. To have and to hold the said Land and premises (appertaining to the true intent & meaning of these presents) unto the sd John Clark his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoof of him the sd John Clark his heirs & assigns forever and they the said Richard Wren & Sally his Wife for themselves their Heirs & assigns shall and will from to times and at all times hereafter make as and execute or cause to be made done & executed any further or other conveyances and assurances in the law for the better & more perfect conveying and assuring the sd Land and premises unto the sd John Clark his Heirs & assigns forever against the lawful claim title & demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will Warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof they the sd Richard Wren & Sally Wren hath hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals the day & Year first above written Signed Sealed & acknowledged In the presence of Richard Wrenn (Seal) Wm Holleman Sally Wrenn (Seal) John Lanes John Cocks At a Court of Quarterly Session held for Surry County the 25th day of May 1813 This Deed form Richard Wren and Sally his Wife to John Clark was acknowledged by them and ordered to be recorded ---- The said Sally being privily examined as the Law directs, relinquished her right to Dower in the Lands conveyed by the within Deed, which is also ordered to be recorded.
