SURRY COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Thomas Hancock to John Wrenn, 26 Dec 1791 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Surry Co. VA Deed Bk. 1, pgs 52-54 FHLC #34118 This Indenture made this twenty sixth day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety one Between Thomas Hancock of Isle of Wight county of the one part and John Wren of Surry county on the other part witnesseth that the said Thomas Hancock for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said John Wren the receipt whereof he the said Hancock doth hereby acknowledge, he the said Thomas Hancock hath bargained, sold aliened and confirmed and be these presents doth bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said John Wren his Heirs and Assigns for ever One certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Surry and containing by estimation Sixty eight Acres being bounded as followeth, to wit, beginning at a forked pine in the tarkiln Slash adjoining John Hancock's line, thence down the tarkiln Slash to a Gum on the main run of Tarrowpine swamp thence down the main run to a pine on John Hargrave's line, thence along said Hargrave's line to a black Jack Oak on the Walls bridge road, thence along the said road to the beginning to have and to hold all and singular the above mentioned premises with every part thereof and all the appurtenances unto the said John Wren his heirs and assigns for ever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said John Wren his heirs and assigns, and the said Thomas Hancock for him and his heirs the said tract of land and every part thereof against him and his Heirs and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever to the said John Wren his heirs and Assigns shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents In witness whereof the said Thomas Hancock hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written Signed Sealed and Thomas Hancock (Seal) delivered in presence of Joshua Bailey Harbert Sledge his John X Hancock Mark At a Court held for Surry county July the 24th 1792 The afore written Indenture of bargain and sale from Thomas Hancock to John Wren was proved to be the act and deed of the said Thomas Hancock by the affirmation of Joshua Bailey and also by the oath of Herbert Sledge, two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be continued for full proof And at a Court held for the said county the 27th day of November following the said Indenture was fully proven by the oath of John Hancock another of the witnesses and by the Court ordered to be recorded ---- Teste Jacob Faulcon CSCur Examined ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
