Know all Men  by these Presents that I Thomas Wrenn of Surry County have for 
Divers Good Causes but more Especially for the love and good Will I have for 
my Son John Wrenn.  I do by these Presents, give grant and Confirm unto my 
said Son John Wrenn one Negro Boy Slave Named Charles of about Ten years old 
to have and to  hold the aforesaid Negro Slave Charles to the Said John Wrenn 
his heirs and Assigns to the only proper use and Behoof of him the said John 
Wrenn his heirs and Assigns forever and I the said Thomas Wrenn do for my self 
my heirs and Assigns the aforesaid Negro Slave Charles to the said John Wrenn 
his Heirs and Assigns for ever against the Right Title Claim property or 
Demand of any  person or Persons Whatsoever Warrant and shall and will by 
these Presents for ever Defend Witness my Hand and Seal the Seventeenth Day of 
March Anno Domini, One Thousand Seven Hundred, and Sixty Nine ---

This Deed of Gift from Thomas Wrenn to his Son John Wrenn was Presented in 
Court and Being first Proved by the Oath of Michael Bailey one of the
