She was a native of Dinwiddie County but has spent most of her life in Surry County. She was a member of the Oak Grove Chapel. Surviving her are four daughters: Mrs. Annie Logan, Ivor; Mrs. Rosa Council, Surry; Mrs. Lizzie Thomas, Surry: Mrs. Lena James, Dendron; four sons: Emmett Appel, Portsmouth; Frank Appel of Elberon; John and Willie of Surry; one brother, Walter Nunnally, of Elberon; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at the grave in the Oak Grove Chapel Cemetery, Surry County, Tuesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. John Rierson, Jr., assisted by the Rev. Horace Jones. The procession will leave from her home in Surry County at 1:30. Mrs. Nora [sic; Cora] Nunnally Appel, 78, wife of the late Anton Appel, died at her home in Surry County July 29, 1956, after a long illness. A native of Dinwiddie County, she had spent most of her life in Surry County. She was a member of the Oak Grove Chapel Church in Surry. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Annie Logan, of Ivor; Mrs. Lena James of Dendron; Mrs. Rosa Council and Mrs. Lizzie Thomas, both of Surry; four sons, Emmett Appel, of Portsmouth; Frank Appel, of Elberon; John Appel and Willie Appel, both of Surry; a brother, Walter Nunnally, of Elberon; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. H, 9th VA Infantry. Her mother, Lucy Ann (PARSONS) NUNNALLY 2m. widower Roland Delouza LOGAN (d. 29 Nov 1917), 30 Nov 1887. She applied for a pension 19 Feb 1925 in Surry Co., stating Roland d. 1918. She d. 23 Feb 1928, and was buried at home. D.Cert. 4737 (Cobham #2) gives her as Colored.
