IDELLA ATKINSON SURRY - Mrs. Idella Wilcox Atkinson, 95, died Tuesday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Nansemond, after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Surry County, she was a daughter of Magnus and Mrs. Sarah Ramey Wilcox and the widow of E.T. Sam Atkinson. She was a member of Dendron Congregational Christian Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. W. Turner Judkins, and a grandson, Julian D. Lewis, both of Surry. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapell, Wakefield, by the Rev. H.E. Crutchfield. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. Idella May (WILCOX; Mrs. E.T. Her father, Magnus Starke WILCOX (1841-1881), was a Confederate veteran, a private in Co. D, 10th VA Heavy Artillery. He is buried in a WILCOX family cemetery in Surry Co. Her mother, "Sallie" Sarah Cornelia RAMEY WILCOX, 2m. 15 Jan 1883, in Surry Co., Waverly Pierce COOPER. (Ancestry.com "Virginia Marriages," citing p. 29 #15) Sarah's D.Cert.
