She was the daughter of Julia Harris and Junious O. Cofer, and had four brothers - Bud, Willie, Johnnie, and Allie. Cora married Guy Betts and lived at "Sycamore Cross" across from the Binford House in Isle of Wight County. They had three daughters. One daughter, Myrtle, married Oscar Lee Holt; another daughter, Ruth, married Tom Hill; and the third daughter married Henry Gwaltney. All three daughters and their families visited Rocky Hock frequently. Mrs. Betts taught in the elementary school in the early 1900's at McClelland, Va., at "Sycamore Cross." The post office (1886 - 1917) at Sycamore Cross was named after William Henry McClelland, a merchant and the postmaster, and was located in the front corner of the yard of the Bett's home. As many remember, Myrtle Betts Holt, Cora's daughter, was very active at Rocky Hock Church. She served in many capacities and was a member of the church for many years. Thanks to Richard and Carol Andrews for the information.
