AND MARY F. BAILEY - GIVEN BY VIRGIE LOWE" George H. Bailey (1866 - 1907) ran a sawmill on his farm on Cedar Point Farm in Little Surry. The sawmill was located close to the home of Viola Lowe's residence. George was killed in an accident at the saw mill. Mary F. Bailey (1864 -1930) was raised at the "Pond Place" on the backside of the farm of where Gaynelle lives today. She was a housewife all her life. Mary and George has six children, two of whom died at an early age. Bessie, Virgie, Bernard and Marion were the surviving children. Virgie was born at Cedar Point Farm, married A.H. Lowe, Sr. and was a housewife. She and her husband had five children - Franklin, Alvin, Vernon, Violet and Gaynelle. Virgie lived on Cedar Point Farm for most of her life. The house in which George and Mary Bailey raised their family and was Virgie's birthplace was located on the site where Viola Lowe's house is today. This old home was disassembled and relocated to Williamsburg. George and Mary Bailey were members of Rocky Hock Church. Virgie was also a member of Rocky Hock, attended church regularly and was active in the Naomi Bible Class and the UMW. Virgie and her parents are buried in Rocky Hock Cemetery. Thanks to Gaynelle Whitmore for the pictures and the information.
