HARVELL BAILEY IVOR - J. Harvell Bailey, 82, a resident of Ivor, died on Thursday, July 11, 1996, at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk. Mr. Bailey was born in Surry County and was the son of the late Joseph Henry and Mabel Harvell Bailey. He was a member of Ivor United Methodist Church. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1933 to 1934 and was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife, Doris Epps Bailey; two daughters, Judith B. Brabrand of Gloucester, Marilyn B. Oliver of Smithfield; two sisters, Henry B. Griffin and Laura B. Newsome, both of Suffolk; a brother, G. Cary Bailey of Grottoes; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two step-great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Saturday, July 13, at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Randy Duncan. Burial will be in Rocky Hock United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wakefield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, Smithfield, Va. 23430; or to the Ivor United Methodist Church, c/o Mary Nannie Powell, Ivor, Va. 23866.
