BAILEY SUFFOLK - Joseph Henry Bailey, 97, 407 W. Washington St., died Saturday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. Born in Wakefield, he was a member of Main Street Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Bowden Bailey; two daughters, Mrs. Helen B. Griffin and Mrs. Laura B. Newsome, both of Suffolk, three step- daughters, Mrs. Emily B. Gingras and Mrs. Florence B. Hines, both of Suffolk, and Mrs. Martha B. Oliver of Smithfield; two sons, J. Harvell Bailey of Ivor and George Cary Bailey of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mrs. Virgie B. Lowe of Wakefield and Mrs. Bessie B. Lowe of Petersburg; a brother George Bernard Bailey of Norfolk, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Rocky Hock United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wakefield, by the Rev. James M. Tongue and Rev. R.E. Brittle. The family request expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad or a favorite charity. I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home, Suffolk, is in charge.
