SARAH ELIZABETH DRAKE BAILEY 

MRS. SARAH BAILEY 

  WAKEFIELD, VA. - DEC. 10 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Bailey, 
of Surry County, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the residence.  Burial 
will be at Rocky Hock Church.

*Additional information: 

Both her gravestone & D.Cert. 29743 (Blackwater #7) give b. 24 Sep 1870, 
   but that cannot be correct.  

She appears in the 1870 Census - B&I, Southampton Co. - age 4 (b. ca. 1866). 

She m. Henry 24 Dec 1884, age 21 (b. ca. 1863). (So.Co. MB5:358) 

Henry made his will 28 Jul 1906, naming Sarah the executrix of his estate. 
   He d. 4 Aug 1906.  Sarah presented the will 21 Sep 1906. 
   (Surry Co. WB13 {1888 - 1907}, p. 583) 

Her parents, John & Emaline V.C. (ATKINS/ATKINSON) DRAKE, m. 1 Nov 1855. 
   (So.Co. MB1:26; M.Reg. p. 15 #83) 

Her maternal grandparents, Thomas ATKINS & Sally WASHINGTON, entered into 
   a m.bond 19 Dec 1831, by consent of her guradian, Albert ANDREWS. 
   Eli Coker's ministers' return give Thomas ATKINSON.

Her paternal grandfather, Newsom DRAKE, 1m. Mary "Polly" GAY 12 Jan 1827. 
   (So.Co. M.Reg. 368, 692)  

Henry's parents, George H. & Ann (STEPHENSON) BAILEY, m. 28 May 1856. 
   (So.Co. MB1:35; M.Reg. p. 3 #36)  Ann d. 28 Aug 1857, when Henry was 
   less than 4 mos. old. (So.Co. D.Recs. p. 70) 

Henry's maternal grandparents, Henry & "Polly" Mary B. (JORDAN) STEPHENSON, 
   m. 13 Jan 1837. (So.Co. M.Reg. 471, 699)  His maternal grandmother was 
   Sarah "Sally" BAILEY.
