Bennett, 91, born in Boston, Mass., and educated in Boston schools, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008. Mrs. Bennett had been a resident of Newport News and Surry County for 70 years. She was retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, as a buyer in the Purchasing Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hudson L. Bennett; her sister, Marian A. marks; and two brother, James and George Aspro. Survivors include three nephews, James L. and Michael O. Marks, and his wife, Barbara, all of Williamsburg; and two nieces, Marilyn A. Lane of Naples, Fla., and Susan Aspro of Norwood, Mass. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 12, in Peninsula Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Wood of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. The family expresses their appreciation to the Hidenwood Retirement Community and York Convalescent Cent, who exhibited kindness and compassion during her declining years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peninsula Catholic High School Scholarship Fund, 600 Harpersville Road, Newport News, VA 23601.
