BERNARD McCOY BARFIELD 

  (Bernard) McCoy Barfield, 73, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Dendron.

  Mr. Barfield, a native of Dendron, was a retired farmer and assistant 
sawyer. 

  He was the son of Willie E. and Fannie Price Barfield.

  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pauline Goodwyn Barfield; three sons, 
Richard M. Barfield, Portsmouth; Clifton E. Barfield, Waverly; Kenneth A. 
Barfield, Bacon’s Castle; one sister, Mrs. Essie B. Young, Chesapeake; 
one brother, Lathern E. Barfield and three grandchildren.

  Services were held Friday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at Purviance Funeral Home 
with the Rev. Samuel Askew officiating. Burial was in Waverly.

  Pallbearers were Jimmy Peck, Horace King, Jr., Darrel Hart, Sherwin 
Richardson, John Savedge and Jimmy Savedge.

  The family suggests memorials be made to the Surry Rescue Squad.

  Purviance Funeral Home in Wakefield was in charge of the arrangements.
