VIRGINIA DORRIS CLODFELTER BROOKS 

  Mrs. Virginia Dorris Clodfelter Brooks, 61, died Wednesday, September 18, 
1985, in Stuart Circle Hospital, Richmond.

  She was a native of Dendron [sic*] and the widow of Joseph M. Brooks Sr. 
She was a former employee of Titmus Optical Company, Petersburg.

  Surviving are one son, Joseph M. Brooks, Jr. of Old Bridge, N.J.; one foster 
son, Edward Earl Brooks of Dinwiddie; one sister, Ora Essie Clodfelter of 
Chester; and two grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Saturday, September 21, at the Purviance Funeral 
Home, Wakefield. Dr. R.E. Brittle officiated.  Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, 
Surry.

Her mother, Ina Wrenn (COLLIER; Mrs. Numa Hampton) CLODFELTER, is also buried there.

Her parents m. 14 Apr 1923 in Dendron, separated Oct '29, & div. Oct '66. 

Her father d. 31 Mar 1969, in Butner, Granville Co., NC, and his body was 
   donated to the Duke Anatomy Dept. 

Virginia's husband (1905-1980) is buried with his parents in a BROOKS family 
   cemetery, Sutherland, Dinwiddie Co.  (Find a Grave Mem. #137377161)  He was 
   named for his great-grandfather, whose farm on Brooks Rd. was on the 
   Five Forks battlefield. 

Earl was the son of Joseph's first wife, Lois (JOHNSON) BROOKS.  They div. 1947. 
   She 2m. Earl Everett PETERS in 1949; d. 4 Oct 1969; bu. East Matoaca 
   Cemetery, Matoaca, Chesterfield Co.  Earl remarried in 1973; bu. Newville 
   Methodist Church, Disputanta, Prince George Co. 

Ancestry.com "Virginia Birth Records" gives b. Stafford Co., citing B.Cert. 
   1924-063040, but that seems an indexing error.
