Born on June 7, 1916, in Surry County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Hugh Hargrave and Inez Goodrich Hargrave. Lois was the widow of Leslie Charles Franck Jr., Stanley Brantley Sr., and Jeff Barrett. In her later years she was the close companion of the late John Gibbs. Lois is survived by two sons, Leslie Charles Franck III and his wife, Frankie of Southerland, Va., and Ernest Ray Franck and his wife, Georgia of Bracey, Va.; five grandchildren, Les Franck IV and his wife, Karman, Clif Franck and his wife, Ise, Copeland Rusterolz, Kayla Franck, and Conner Franck; two great-granddaughters, Halle and Olivia; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Moore of Scotland Wharf, Va.; two stepsons, Stanley Brantley Jr. and his wife, Diane and Butler Barrett and his wife, Betty Ann; and nine step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph (Slick) Hargrave. Lois lived with her husband, Leslie Franck, at Young’s Road in Dinwiddie County until his untimely death in 1972. In 1976 she married Stanley Brantley Sr. and became a resident of Wakefield. She was an active member to the Wakefield United Methodist Church and the Wakefield Woman’s Club. Lois loved to dance and she was an enthusiastic member of the Blackwater Sportsman’s Club. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009, in Southlawn Memorial Park, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening, May 31, 2009, at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to the Wakefield UMC Pre-school, P.O.
