BRITTLE WAKEFIELD - Mrs. Hattie Eggleston Brittle, 82, died Wednesday in a Petersburg hospital after an illness of four months. She was a lifelong resident of Surry County and a member of Rocky Hock Methodist Church near Wakefield. Survivors include three sons, Eric S. Eggleston of Hampton, Joseph O. Eggleston and Robert E. Eggleston, both of Wakefield; a daughter, Mrs. Lautin E. Ledford of Newport News; one brother, John W. Goodrich, and one sister, Miss Addie R. Goodrich, both of Wakefield, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Purviance Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Rocky Hock Church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** HATTIE ANN GOODRICH EGGLESTON BRITTLE Mrs. Hattie Eggleston Brittle, 82, died Wednesday, April 3, in a Petersburg hospital after an illness of four months. A daughter of John and Ida Bailey Goodrich, and a lifelong resident of Surry County, she was the widow of Robert E. Eggleston. She was a member of Rocky Hock Methodist Church. She is survived by three sons: Eric S. Eggleston of Hampton; Joseph O. Eggleston and Robert E. Eggleston of Wakefield; a daughter, Mrs. Lautin E. Ledford of Newport News; a brother, John W. Goodrich of Wakefield; a sister, Miss Addie R. Goodrich of Wakefield, and several grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel at Wakefield, by the Rev. L.P. Bland of Wakefield Methodist church and Rev. Esten H. Mathews. Pallbearers were Morris Ellis, Stanley Cooper, Henry Ellis, Garland Goodrich, C.C. Murphy and Leslie Goodrich. Burial was in Rocky Hock Cemetery.
