GARLAND COLE BURTON, SR. 

  DENDRON - Garland Cole Burton Sr., 78, died Tuesday in the home of his 
daughter in Norfolk.

  He was a lifelong resident of Dendron.

  He retired as a mechanic from the Southside Motor Co. in Wakefield.

  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Hill Burton of Norfolk; four 
daughters, Mrs. Norma B. Crocker of Smithfield, Mrs. Alice B. Morgan of 
Dallas, Mrs. Judy B. Flowers of Norfolk and Mrs. Virginia B. Galdos of 
Yorktown; four sons, Garland C. Burton, Jr., of Williamsburg, James H. 
Burton of Waverly, Richard L. Burton of Chesapeake and Carl M. Burton 
of Smithfield; a sister, Mrs. Faye B. Barrette of Virginia Beach; a 
brother, Willie H. Burton of Newport News; 20 grandchildren; and 13 
great-grandchildren.

  A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Brandon 
Episcopal Church Cemetery, Burrowsville, by the Rev. Robert Wolfe.

  The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Purviance 
Funeral Home, Wakefield.

  The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of 
contributions to the American Cancer Society.
