GARLAND COLE BURTON, JR. 

  WILLIAMSBURG - Garland Cole Burton, Jr., 55, of 3101 Lake Powell Road, 
died Wednesday in Hampton General Hospital after a long illness.

  He was born in Surry County and had been a Williamsburg resident for 19 
years.

  He was a service manager at Pittman Chrysler-Plymouth, Williamsburg.

  He was an Air Force veteran and served during the Korean War.

  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Retta Jean Burton; three daughters, 
Mrs. Melanie B. Hood and Miss Lisa A. Hite Burton, both of Williamsburg, 
and Mrs. Garla B. Didier of Virginia Beach; two sons, Garland C. Burton 
III and Gary E. Burton, both of Williamsburg; a mother, Mrs. Minnie Hill 
Burton of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. Nora B. Crocker of Smithfield, Ms. 
Judith B. Flowers of Norfolk, Mrs. Virginia B. Galos of Yorktown and Mrs. 
Alice B. Morgan of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, James H. Burton of Waverly, 
Richard L. Burton of Chesapeake and C. Martin Burton of Smithfield; and five 
grandchildren.

  Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Williamsburg 
Memorial Park by Steven P. Angel of Williamsburg Christian Church and David 
Hartman of Olive Branch Christian Church, Toano.

  Umphlett Funeral Home is in charge.
