JAMES HILL BURTON

  WAKEFIELD - James Hill Burton, 59, former owner and operator of Burton’s 
Automotive, died Tuesday, April 7.

  Mr. Burton was also previously employed by Long Equipment Co.  He was an 
Army veteran of the Korean War.

  He was a past president of the Wakefield Junior Chamber of Commerce and 
a member of Dendron United Methodist Church.  Mr. Burton was a native of 
Surry County.

  Survived by his wife, Mary Sheffield Burton of Waverly; two daughters, 
Sheila B. Ellis of Wakefield and Wendy K. Clements of Kill Devil Hills, 
N.C.; a son, James H. Burton, Jr. of El Paso, Texas; his mother, Minnie 
Hill Burton of Hampton; four sisters, Norma B. Crocker of Smithfield, 
Judith Flowers of Hampton, Belle Galdos of Yorktown and Alice Morgan of 
Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Richard L. Burton of Chesapeake and Martin 
Burton of Smithfield; and three grandchildren.

  Visitation from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Purviance Funeral Home.  Graveside 
service at 11 a.m. Thursday in Wakefield Cemetery by the Rev. Herschel Hill.

  WAKEFIELD - Mr. James Hill Burton, 59, died April 7, 1992.

  He was a native of Surry County.  He was the former owner and operator of 
Burton’s Automotive.  He was also previously employed by Long Equipment Co. 
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
