[sic; Whit M.] Brown, 80, who died at his home near here, were conducted at Rocky Hock Methodist Church Thursday afternoon by his pastor, the Rev. Robert H. Humphrey. Burial was in the cemetery at the church. Mr. Brown, who was a well-known farmer, had been in failing health for some time. His father "Bowling" was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in the "Southampton Lee Artillery," Co. A, 18th VA Heavy Artillery. He is buried in the BROWN family cemetery, off Bell Rd., just outside Ivor.
