WAKEFIELD, VA. - Jan. 25 - William H. Brown, Sr., 69, died Wednesday morning at his home near Wakefield after a long illness. He was a Southampton County farmer. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Bessie A. Brown; two sons, E.W. Brown, of Toano, and W.H. Brown, of Wakefield; three daughters, Mrs. W.N. Worley, of Petersburg; Mrs. J.A. Skinner, of Wakefield, and Mrs. W.R. Layne, of Richmond; his stepmother, Mrs. Mollie E. Brown, and a half-sister, Mrs. Fannie E. Atkinson, both of Wakefield. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Rocky Hock Cemetery, near Wakefield. ****************************************************************************** Graveside Services Held Thursday For W. H. Brown Graveside services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 for William Henry Brown, 69, at Rocky Hock Cemetery. He died Wednesday morning at 12:10 at his home near Wakefield, following a stroke suffered Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. Miss Russell of Petersburg officiated, assisted by the Rev. W.L. Wood, Wakefield Christian minister. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Atkinson Brown; three daughters, Mrs. Ray Layne of Richmond, Mrs. Wilbur Worley of Petersburg and Mrs. Alvin Skinner of Wakefield; two sons, Elton W. of Toano and W.H. Jr. of Wakefield; one half- sister, Miss Fanny Atkinson of Wakefield; step-mother, Mrs. Mollie Brown, of Wakefield and five grandchildren. Active pallbearers were C.A. Freeman, M.A. Freeman, Eddie King, Roy Cornwell, Jack Murphy and J.B. Murphy.
