BERTHA WILLS VICK BRANCH 

MRS. BRANCH, 82, DIED LAST MONDAY 

  Mrs. Bertha Vick Branch, 82, widow of A.J. Branch, of Southampton, died 
Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.C. Whitmore, of Wakefield. 
She was a native of Southampton County and one of the oldest members of the 
Millfield Baptist Church. 

  Besides Mrs. Whitmore, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Joe 
Eggleston of Wakefield, and Miss Mary Branch of Charlottesville; one son, 
W.J. Branch, of Elizabeth City, N.C.; eight grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. H.L. Joyner, of Courtland, and a number of 
nieces and nephews. 

  Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the home of her 
daughter, Mrs. J.C. Whitmore by Rev. L.P. Bland, pastor of Rocky Hock 
Methodist Church, with interment in Rocky Hock Cemetery.  Pallbearers were 
Marion Joyner, Jesse Joyner, Odel Joyner, Alf Vick, Will Branch and Thad 
Branch.

Her husband (1854 - 1922) was buried in a family cemetery, presumably in 
   Southampton Co., but the site is not known (Apr 2022) to the SCHS 
   Cemetery Project. 

A photo of her gravestone is posted with Find a Grave Memorial #137053987, 
   which states she is buried in the WHITMORE plot.
