Cobb, Sr., died Friday, October 29 [sic; Thursday the 28th], in a Richmond hospital after a long illness. She was a member of the Dendron Christian Church, a lifelong resident of Surry County, and a graduate of the State Teachers’ College at Farmville. She had taught in Surry County public schools for 26 years. She is survived by a son, F.W. Cobb, Jr., of Lafayette, Calif, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Lee Demonde of Washington, D.C. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Purviance Funeral Chapel with Rev. E.H. Crutchfield officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park. [sic*] Pallbearers were J.A. Threewitts, Garland W. Spratley, Robert A. Moore, Wilton Cooke, Jack Pittman, M.B. Joyner, H.B. Burt, Jr., Arthur L. Presson, James White, Frank Dickerson and Kenneth Lane. Her parents, Luther J. & Nannie V. (HARGRAVE) PRESSON, are also buried at Rocky Hock. Birthdate &c. from D.Cert. 65-028270, which also gives buried Hillcrest Memorial Park. Her husband's D.Cert. (1965-5646 {Chuckatuck #48}) also gives buried Hillcrest Memorial Park.
