Mrs. Cofer, a lifelong resident of Surry County, was the widow of Roy Cofer. She was a member of Dendron Christian Church. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. R.A. Ligon and Mrs. J.T. DeBrito, both of Richmond, and Mrs. K.W. Shaw of Matthews, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Bettie J. Cofer, of Dendron; and a granddaughter, Connie D. Cofer of Dendron. The funeral was conducted Monday, May 5, in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial was in Rocky Hock Church Cemetery, Surry County. Elton Clarice (MATTHEWS; Mrs. R. Birthdate &c. from D.Cert. 86-016552, which gives her father as Raleigh MATTHEWS. Her huband (1909-1971) is buried with his parents, Thomas Malcolm & Alice Arelia (HOLDSWORTH) MATTHEWS, in Waverly Cemetery.
