KENNETH BAIRD COFER 

  Cofer, Kenneth Baird, 70, of Gloucester, passed away suddenly February 1, 
2007.  He is survived by his wife Fran Shaffer-Cofer, and by five children and 
eight grandchildren, daughter, Debbie Strong of Atlanta with husband, Bill and 
children, Courtney and Michael, son Tim of Ashland with wife, Andy and their 
boys, Joe, Doug, and Greg; daughter, Terri Beirne of Midlothian with husband, 
Marty and daughter, Lily; daughter Karen Brown of Nags Head with husband, Joby 
and children, Willa and Ben; and daughter, Alison Cofer of Denver.  He is also 
survived by Fran’s daughter, Brooke Kovalcik, her husband, Paul and their two 
children.  He was preceded in death by parents, Alonzo Clyde and O’Lean Baird 
Cofer and wife, Myrtle Lee Cofer, all of Surry County.  He worked for 35 years 
for AFLAC, most recently as State Sales Coordinator for Southern Maryland, 
Washington, D.C. and Delaware, receiving numerous awards, including the 
prestigious Amos Award, for his significant accomplishments.  Ken enjoyed the 
last years with his loving wife, Fran; and three puppies Cayce, Sayde and 
Taffe creating lasting memories with family and friends in their home on the 
Piankatank River.  The family will received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday 
at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road.  Funeral 
services will be held Wednesday at the funeral home at 11 a.m.
