He was a native and farmer of Surry County. Also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and a Steward of the Dendron Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Blackwater Sportsman Club and the Surry Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife, Juliette Clements Cofer; one daughter, Mrs. Linda C. Thompson of Richmond; one son, Woodrow K. Cofer of Powhatan; three brothers, T. Linwood Cofer A. Clyde Cofer, both of Dendron, and Raymond F. Cofer of Surry; two sisters, Mrs. Will M. Holdsworth of Disputanta and Mrs. John A. Rogers of Hampton; three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 21, 4 p.m. from the Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. Emmett Diggs. Interment Waverly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Surry Rescue Squad.
