Dorothy S. Cox 

  Dorothy S. Cox, of Elberon, died on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Sentara 
Obici in Suffolk.  She was a graduate of Longwood College (now University) 
and taught for 20 years in Southampton and Sussex County Public Schools 
(Ivor, Wakefield and Waverly).  Dorothy was a loving mother and a devoted 
wife.  She was a faithful member of Moore's Swamp Baptist Church.  Dorothy 
was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Ann Kitchen; and her parents, Lyda 
Edwards and Samuel R. Stringfield.  Left to cherish her memory are her 
husband of 40 years, Melvin Cox of Elberon; a sister, Martha Newman (Tom) 
of Aylett; a son, Will Kitchen Jr. (Brenda) of Glen Allen; three stepsons, 
Davis Cox (Doris) of Spring Grove, Sammy Cox (Donna) of Elberon and William 
Cox (Terri) of Midlothian; a niece, Susan Richards (Lee) of Aylett; and a 
nephew, Steven Newman of Atlanta, Ga.  The family will receive friends 
Saturday, March 19, 2016, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel, 
from 6 to 8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 
20, 2016, at Moore's Swamp Baptist Church, with Rev. Danny Blalock 
officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, 
memorial contributions should be made to Moore's Swamp Baptist Church, 2300 
Runnymeade Rd., Elberon, Va. 23846. Condolences may be registered at
