CHESBRO BURIED NOV. 19TH Claremont, Nov. 25 - Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie S. Chesbro who died Tuesday, November 19, were conducted Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Ritchie Memorial Episcopal Church. Rev. C.E. Stewart of Petersburg officiated with interment in the family plot in local cemetery. Mrs. Chesbro, age 88 years and 4 months, the daughter of Joel Shives and Abigail McClure Shives of Bradford County, Pa. was born at Wellsville, N.Y. July 19, 1858. Her childhood was spent in Emporium, Pa. where in 1878 she was married to Hiram Hale Chesbro of Coudersport, Pa. Four years later, 1882, with her husband and son, she moved to Claremont where she made her home for the rest of her life. Being a resident of our community for 64 years, Mrs. Chesbro was naturally associated with the early developments of our town and saw many changes take place from 1883 when the Chesbro's built the Pioneer Store up to the present time. She leaves to mourn her passing three children, Mark H. Chesbro of Claremont and Los Gatos, California; J.M. Chesbro of Spring Grove and Mrs. J. Lewis Hopper of Claremont; two grandchildren, Mrs. K.E. Card of Suffolk and J.M. Chesbro Jr. of Spring Grove and one great-granddaughter, Miss Genevieve Card of Suffolk. Pallbearers were L.L. Mills, Louis Stein; E.W. Worrell; William Baugh; Hall Hopper and Dr. Nickels. Hattie (SHIVES; Mrs. Hiram H.)
