COCKES Tigard, Ore. - A service to celebrate the life of Debra "Debbie" C. Cockes will be held Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at 4 p.m. at the Rolling Hills Community Church, 3550 SW Borland Road in Tualatin, Ore. After an unexpected disappearance, Debbie, age 43, was found dead on Thursday, Feb. 26. She was a Tigard resident for the past several years. Debbie was born to E. Dixon and Shirley Seward Cockes on Jan. 24, 1955, at Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, Fla. She graduated from Ben Eielson High School at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, in 1973. Following many years dedicated to raising her three children, Debbie earned B.A. degree in human studies in June 1997 from Marylhurst College in Marylhurst, Ore. In September 1997, she was hired as an instructional assistant at Fowler Middle School in Tigard, where she had been an active volunteer for many years. Debbie also volunteered at Tigard Public Library and recently became employed part-time at the library. She was an avid reader and met regularly with fellow members of a local book discussion group. She loved gardening and cultivating flowers and was a founding member of the Bull Mountain Garden Club. She enjoyed music and sewing and was a member of the Rolling Hills Singles Club at the Rolling Hills Community Center. Debbie will greatly missed by her three children, Benjamin Kyle Maclariello, Thomas Michael Maclariello and Catherine Elise Maclariello, all of Tigard; her parents, E. Dixon and Shirley S. Cockes of Livingston, Texas; her three sisters, Vicki Cockes Thompson of Yorktown, Lisa Cockes Judkins of Surry and Suzanne Leigh Cockes of Anchorage, Alaska; her aunt Bertha Seward of Colonial Heights; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many, many friends. Private interment will be in Cresent Grove Cemetery, Tigard, Ore. The family request that those wishing to honor Debbie’s memory make a donation to the Douggy Center at P.O. Box 86852, Portland, Ore. 97286; or to a favorite charity benefiting children.
