SARA SAVEDGE CLARK 

MRS. SARA SAVEDGE CLARK 

  Mrs. Sara Savedge Clark, 88, of Dendron died Sunday, April 11, after an 
illness of four months.

  She was a daughter of Charles Travis and Sarah Lane Savedge and the widow 
of Emmett J. Clark.  She was a lifelong resident of Surry County and the 
oldest member of New Lebanon Christian Church in Elberon.

  She is survived by a son, Walter J. Clark, Sandston; three grandson; five 
great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Sugie S. Parson and Mrs. Mollie S. 
Burgess and a brother, A.T. Savedge, all of Richmond.

  A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 13, at 2:30 p.m. in Purviance 
Funeral Chapel, Wakefield with Rev. H.E. Curtchfield officiating.  Burial was 
in Waverly Cemetery.

  Pallbearers were Arthur Lee Clark, Jr., James C. Clark, Edward Burgess, Joe 
Lee Clarke, Willie Clarke, Charles E. Savedge and William F. Mallory.

Her widowed father - a Confederate veteran - 2m. Anna Virginia PRICE, 
   10 Oct 1893, in Surry Co.  He d. 4 Feb 1915, in Elberon, & was 
   buried in Surry Co. 

Anna (1871-1946) received a pension for his service.  She is buried in 
   Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond. 

Note: yes, some pallbearers have an E on the Clark name and some don’t
