Oakes Crocker Died Mar. 9 Miss Lillie L. Oakes Crocker, 65, life-long resident of Surry County, died March 9th at the home of her half-brother, John S. Crocker, near Surry, after a long illness. Miss Crocker was a member of Surry Baptist Church. Besides John S. Crocker, she is survived by one other half-brother, Martin F. Crocker of Central Hill; a sister, Mrs. Ernest Hines of Walters; a half-sister, Mrs. A.J. Atkins of Central Hill community; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 2 P.M. in the chapel of the Bullock Funeral Home by the Rev. J.A. Cales and the Rev. L.F. Paulette. Burial was in Oak Grove Methodist Cemetery, Surry County. Pallbearers were R.W. and M.W. Berryman, P.P., W.R. and C.G. Rowell and C.T. Gwaltney.
