CARDEN GRANDY, N.C. - James Harvey Carden, 67, a native of Winona, W.Va., and a former resident of Wakefield, died Friday, June 19. Mr. Carden was a Navy veteran of World War II. He also served in the U.S. Army. Survived by his wife, Charlotte Goodrich Carden; a daughter, Charlotte Ann Clary of Waverly; two sons, James Michael Carden of Hopewell, and Carl Erwin Carden of Chester; his stepmother, Mary F. Carden of Selma, Ala.; three half- sisters, Avernell Booten of Lavalette, W.Va., Helen Andrews of Tallahassee, Fla., and Margie Carden of Black Mountain, N.C.; two half-brothers, Donald Carden of Selma, Ala., and Bill Carden of Elizabethtown, Ky.; and four grandchildren. Funeral 11 a.m. Monday at Assembly of God Church, Grandy, N.C., by the Rev. Douglas Harn. Assemble 2:30 p.m. Monday at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, Va., to travel to cemetery. Burial 3:30 p.m. Monday in Rocky Hock United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wakefield, Va. Memorials to Grandy Volunteer Rescue Squad, Grandy, N.C. 27939.
