EDWARDS DIES NEAR ELBERON Elberon, Va. - Mrs. E.R. Edwards, age 88 years, died at her home near Runnymede at 4:15 o'clock Sunday. Mrs. Edwards was one of Surry's oldest inhabitants and was prominently known. Mrs. Edwards is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J.W. Pond, of Wakefield, and Mrs. Percy Richardson, of Runnymede, and one son, Mr. J.N. Edwards, of Belhaven, N.C., one brother, and one sister and eight grandchildren. Interment was made in the family cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wunder, of Claremont, assisted by Rev. A.K. Lambdin and Rev. C.E. Gerringer, of Wakefield. Ancestry.com "VA Select Marriages 1785-1940" gives daughter of N.R. & Rebecca BERRYMAN; m. 29 Nov 1866, Surry Co. The 1850 Census - Southwark P'sh, Surry Co. - gives her parents as Nat R. & Eliza R. BERRYMAN. Her husband (7 Jun 1842 - 23 Mar 1913), son of James D. & Martha EDWARDS, 1m. Rebecca A. WARREN, daughter of John P. & Julia WARREN, 24 Dec 1861. (Surry Co. #18) He was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in the Surry Light Artillery. He was captured at Farmville, 6 Apr 1865, and held as a POW until 16 Jun 1865. The regimental history states he was buried on the Sherwin RICHARDSON farm, Rt. 655 [Saints Rd., near Runnymede]. Elmira applied for a CS widow's pension 30 Dec 1929. Her brother Frank's application to the Sons of the American Revolution, 20 Mar 1930, gives their parents as Nathaniel R. & Eliza Ridley (WILLIAMS) BERRYMAN. Nathaniel R. BERRYMAN & Eliza R.
