CLIFTON M. ELLIS 

SURRY COUNTY SUPERVISOR, CLIFTON M. ELLIS, DIES AT 69 

  WAKEFIELD - June 16.  Clifton M. Ellis, 69, chairman of the Surry County 
Board of Supervisors for more than 20 years, died Sunday at a Richmond 
hospital.

  A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Purviance Funeral 
Chapel here with burial in the Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery.

  Besides being a member of the board of supervisors, Mr. Ellis was a member 
of the Surry County welfare board and a director of the Rural Electrical 
Association.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the Rocky Hock Methodist 
Church where he taught Sunday school.

  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Josie Bell Ellis; two daughters, Mrs. A.A. 
Hux of Louisville, Ky. And Mrs. S.C. McFather of Texas; two sons, H.M. and 
C.M. Ellis Jr., both of Wakefield; seven grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. 
D.S. Derring of Dendron, and Mrs. E.G. Faison and Mrs. S.C. Hughes Sr., both 
of Waverly.
