ELLIS SURRY COUNTY SUPERVISOR, CLIFTON M. ELLIS, DIES AT 69 WAKEFIELD - June 16. Clifton M. Ellis, 69, chairman of the Surry County Board of Supervisors for more than 20 years, died Sunday at a Richmond hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Purviance Funeral Chapel here with burial in the Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery. Besides being a member of the board of supervisors, Mr. Ellis was a member of the Surry County welfare board and a director of the Rural Electrical Association. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Rocky Hock Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Josie Bell Ellis; two daughters, Mrs. A.A. Hux of Louisville, Ky. And Mrs. S.C. McFather of Texas; two sons, H.M. and C.M. Ellis Jr., both of Wakefield; seven grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. D.S. Derring of Dendron, and Mrs. E.G. Faison and Mrs. S.C. Hughes Sr., both of Waverly. Clifton Morris ELLIS, of Wakefield, retired farmer, chairman of Surry Co.
