ASHTON GAY NORFOLK - Dr. R. Ashton Gay, 91, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, at his home. A native and former resident of Newport News, Dr. Gay was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. A 1923 graduate of Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Gay practiced dentistry for 56 years before retiring. He was past president of the Tidewater Dental Association and a member of the Virginia State and the American Dental Association. He was also a 60 year member of Berkley Masonic Lodge No. 167; Rice Commandry No. 16, Knights Templar; and a 50 years member of Iionic Royal Arch Chapter No. 46 and Khedive Shrine Temple. Survivors include his wife, Florence V. Gay; and one granddaughter. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery, Wakefield, by the Rev. Wade Munford. Cox Funeral Home, Norfolk, in in charge. Dr. R.
